The picture shows a sustainability study using the example of downstream pharmaceutical processing, which was carried out by Energy Design Lavovski for VTU Enginnering.

1. SUN. Analyze your location. Get familiar with the sun.

2. EARTH. Plant trees. As much as you can. Minimize the urban heat effect.

3. AIR. Never block the prevailing winds. Use it for natural ventilation in uncontrolled zones.

4. WATER. Collect Rainwater.

5. GREEN ROOF: stand up to the client and plant vegetation on the roof to absorb CO2, protect against overheating, clean the supply air, and cool the microclimate.

6. PARKING. Do not build underground car parks. The CO2 emissions generated during the production of 1m3 of concrete account for approx. 350 kg. Use existing parking facilities on-site or car-sharing concepts.

7. DAYLIGHT. to maximize it where people work – filling lines, production, offices, and labs.

8. LAYOUT orientation: utilities and storages to the north, filling line, offices, and production to the west, buffer preparation, laboratories, and gowning to the south.

9. ELECTRICITY. Install PVs

10. CO2 FOOTPRINT. Build with 50% less CO2 per m2 than the previous project.
